Settings
/settings (or /prefs) opens your personal settings. You can also reach it from the Settings tile on the Main Menu. Click a toggle to flip it; the item shows ON or OFF.
| Setting | What it does |

| Locator Bar | Shows nearby players as dots above your hotbar. While it is on, it takes the XP bar’s place. Turn it off to keep your XP bar. |
| Show Me On Locator Bars | Lets other players see you as a dot on their locator bar. Turn it off to hide yourself. |
| Private Messages | Lets other players /msg you. |
| Public Chat | Shows public chat messages. Turn it off for a quiet screen. |
Lets other players send you /mail. |
Your choices stick through deaths and relogs.
Where is my XP bar?
Section titled “Where is my XP bar?”On Java 26.3 the game swaps the XP bar for the locator bar whenever other players are nearby. If your XP bar keeps disappearing, open /settings and turn Locator Bar off.
Other toggles
Section titled “Other toggles”/tipsturns the automatic tips and announcements in chat off or on./nameplateschanges the nameplate shown above your head.- The resource pack can be turned on later in your server list settings.
