The Almanac

The Almanac is your field guide to the Reach. Every place you visit, every creature you meet, every boss you fight and every drink you make has a page in it. Filling pages pays Seamark XP, and closing a whole chapter pays coins and a title.

The Almanac field guide menu

Type /almanac to open it (/codex, /bestiary and /fieldguide work too). /almanac <chapter> jumps straight to a chapter.

Each page moves through up to five stages:

StagePlacesCreaturesBosses
1. RumoredYou heard of itYou heard of itYou heard of it
2. SightedYou saw one nearbyYou fought it (dealt at least 2% of its health)
3. Charted / Slain / FelledYou walked into itYour first killYour first kill
4. StudiedMore kills (drops and tips revealed)More kills
5. MasteredMany killsMany kills
  • Charting a place turns the creatures that live there into rumors, so exploring tells you what to hunt next.
  • Kills to study and master depend on the creature. Most chapter creatures need 10 and 50 kills, common wildlife needs 25 and 100, and bosses usually need 3 and 10 kills.
  • You get kill credit without the last hit if you dealt at least 15% of the creature’s health.
  • Wildlife killed at a spawner only counts once, so mob farms cannot master pages.
  • The action bar shows your progress, for example “Vinecaller 4/10 to studied”.
  • Some chapters also have findings: lost log pages you recover in the world.
  • Shift-click a known page to open its spot on the web map at maps.bucketry.net.

Fell a boss without dying during the fight and its page is marked Flawless, worth a bonus reward.

Each stage pays once, the first time you reach it.

The Trophy Wall collects the bosses you have felled. Echoes keeps pages for places and creatures that are no longer in the game, so nothing you earned before disappears. Echoes never count toward completion. If you played with the old Codex, your discoveries carried over.
