Builders and Breakers

Three of Pailhaven’s workshops are worth a visit whether you build, fight or decorate.

The Breaker's Yard on the Pailhaven waterfront

The builders’ yard behind Crafts Row, run by Joss Whitlow, the carpenter. Three bays each show a full building palette laid up at full size: a sample wall, a floor and the trim pieces (stairs, slab and wall). Come here when you want to see how blocks look together before you commit.

  • /yard opens the palette menu. Click a bay to stand right in front of it.
  • /warp yard takes you to Joss’s counter. On foot, take the steps up from the square’s south-east corner.
  • Ask Joss “Show me the palettes” for the same menu.

On the Bay Head sands by the dry dock, Jory Brack is breaking up the old hulk Saltgrace. This is the home of salvage: breaking old gear down into its materials.

/salvage works anywhere, but the Yard pays better:

  • +10% materials on everything you salvage here.
  • The only place enchantments come off whole as books.

Get there with /warp breakers or the Breaker’s Yard waystone. /salvagestats shows your salvage level and /salvagetop the best breakers.

  • Scrap Pile: /salvage pile breaks down a load of plain gear at once. Diamond and netherite gear, elytra, maces, tridents and named or custom items still go through the normal bench one at a time. The first 128 pieces each day earn full salvage XP; after that you still get full materials but less XP.
  • Breaker’s Bench: Jory sells a placeable salvage bench for your base: $5,000, needs salvage level 5. Right-click it to salvage, sneak and right-click for the Scrap Pile, and sneak and left-click to pick it back up.

A vanilla loom stops at 6 banner patterns. Orla Finch, the Sailmaker on Crafts Row, can weave up to 16.

  1. Hold the banner you want to work on and ask Orla “Weave me a banner.”
  2. Add layers in the loom. Layers 1 to 6 cost only the dye, like a normal loom.
  3. Every layer past 6 costs $500 on top of the dye.

Patterns that need a pattern item (like Creeper or Flow) still need it. The loom can also copy a banner (vanilla crafting cannot copy one with more than 6 layers) and wash it clean. Only plain dye is used, and custom or modeled banners cannot be woven.
