Whaleboat Run

A bowhead whale comes up the Long Lead, the open channel east of Frostmere, to breathe. When the Northwatch bell rings, whalers row out, put harpoons in her while she is up, and everyone who did real damage shares the haul.

Getting out there

/warp Rimeback takes you to Frostmere. Walk to the slip at the end of the pier.
The slip keeper lends a Frostmere Whaleboat to anyone without a boat, and a Company Harpoon (a worn trident with Loyalty II, 80 uses) to anyone without a trident. The harpoon loan is once per 20 hours.
Row east up the Long Lead. A chat call tells everyone near Frostmere when a bowhead is sighted.

The hunt

The bowhead swims the Long Lead and surfaces to breathe. You can only hurt her while she is up. Hits while she is under do nothing.
Tridents do full damage, thrown or in hand. Bows, crossbows and other melee do a quarter.
She has a lot of health, and it scales with the number of whalers around her. Bring friends.
If nobody is within 64 blocks for 30 seconds, she sounds and swims off. One comes back when whalers return.
After a kill, the Long Lead rests for 3 minutes before the next bowhead.

The haul

Everyone within 64 blocks who did at least 40 damage gets their own share when she dies:

You get a full share for up to six whales in 20 hours. After that, each whale gives a lean share of 2 blubber until your oldest full share comes back.

Haldor’s tally

Haldor Krake, the Flensing Master, buys blubber at the Flensing Yard. Walk up to his tally carrying blubber and it opens.

Left-click the blubber to sell one, right-click to sell all you carry, or Sell the whole haul.
Every slab is $2,500. He does not buy oil or baleen.
