Deep Haul

Deep Haul is a fast co-op fishing event in Gnasher’s Cove, a horseshoe bay under tall cliffs with an island in its mouth. It is nothing like waiting at the jetty: fish bite in a second or two, quick reels build combos, and something is always happening on the water. Everyone fills one shared hold, rides out a squall, then hauls in the Old Gnasher together on a single line.

Playing alone is fine. If nobody else joins, the Reid brothers fish with you.

  • Every day at 5:20 PM Chicago time (CT).
  • About 15 minutes before, Discord posts a heads-up, and chat reminds you 5 minutes before. When it opens, you get a title and a bell. Click [CLICK TO JOIN] in chat or type /deephaul.
  • Join from Survival (outside the cove). You get a short lobby (90 seconds) before the haul starts, with a countdown bar at the top of your screen until you join.
  • Missed the lobby? You can still jump in while the crew is filling the hold or riding out the squall. Chat pings a join button every couple of minutes until the Old Gnasher surfaces.
  • Up to 12 anglers per round. A round lasts up to 12 minutes.
  1. Fill the hold. Cast into the bay and reel the moment it bites. Every fish adds to the crew’s shared hold (the goal grows with more anglers). Rarer fish are worth more.
  2. The squall. A real storm rolls in for 75 seconds. Big fish bite more often and every catch counts double.
  3. The Old Gnasher. The legend surfaces and the whole crew pulls on one shared line. Pull when it is calm, let it run when it rolls. Pulling while it thrashes builds tension, and too much tension snaps a strand. The line has three strands; lose them all and it gets away.

  • Reel fast. Reel within about half a second of the bite to build a combo. A combo of 3 doubles your points, a combo of 6 triples them. A slow reel keeps your combo, a very slow one loses it.
  • Leapers. Fish leap out of the water every few seconds (constantly during the squall). Snag one for 8 points.

Every 40 to 55 seconds something happens:

EventWhat to do
Feeding frenzyA patch of water boils for 15 seconds. Cast into it for triple points.
Gull raidGulls swoop in to steal from the hold. Punch them (3 points each).
The netA net comes up. Everyone spams right-click to heave it in (8 points each).
Message in a bottleA bottle bobs past. Hook it first for 15 points.

If you are fishing alone, Dougal and Fergus Reid grab their rods and join you. They fish for real and chat as they go, and they can top the board, but they never take tokens, money or the Haulmaster title.

AnglerStyle
Dougal ReidThe patient one. Steady, rarely fumbles the Gnasher.
Fergus ReidThe lucky one. Faster, louder, and more likely to pull at the wrong moment.

Money and the Cache are paid once per player per Chicago day. Haul Tokens are paid every round. Milestones are personal: they count your own points.
