Tags and titles
A tag is a short label shown next to your name. Some you buy with coins, many more you earn. Earned ones are called titles, and they also show above your head.
Wearing a tag
Section titled “Wearing a tag”- Open
/titles(or/tags). Tags are sorted into categories: Bosses & Raids, Trades & Guilds, Explorer & Delver, Captain’s Log, Seasons, Harbor Life, Events & Champions, Coin Shop & Crates, Ranks, Veterans, One of a Kind and Legacy. Each one shows how many you own. - Click a tag you own to wear it.
- If your chat line shows your rank instead of your tag, type
/prefix tag(or click Show in Chat in the menu) to show the tag in chat.

Earned titles show above your head
Section titled “Earned titles show above your head”When you earn a title (from a tournament, a boss, a quest line, Motherlode and so on), it is equipped for you automatically and appears as a line above your head, as well as in chat.
- Pick a different tag in
/titlesat any time. Once you choose one yourself, automatic equipping stops so it never overrides your pick. /titles auto onor/titles auto offturns automatic equipping back on or off.
Earned titles can’t be bought and the Kraken rank does not unlock them. Where each one comes from is covered in Progression. A few examples:

Custom Tag Voucher: write your own title
Section titled “Custom Tag Voucher: write your own title”The Custom Tag Voucher is the rarest tag item on the server. It turns into one title you write yourself, in a colour you pick. It only comes from the Dark Auction Grand Night, and like other auction vouchers you can trade it until you use it.
- Right-click the voucher.
- Type
/customtag <your title>, for example/customtag Brine Poet. - Pick a colour with
/customtag color <name>: gold, crimson, tide, seafoam, violet, rose, frost, ember, moss or ash. - Check the preview and type
/customtag confirm(or/customtag cancelto stop).
Staff look at every request. Once it is approved, the title is created and equipped for you, even if you are offline at the time. If it is turned down, you get the voucher back along with the reason, so you can try again.
The rules for a title:
- 2 to 14 characters: letters, numbers, spaces, apostrophes and hyphens.
- No rude words, and nothing that copies an existing tag or sounds like a staff role, a rank or an earned title (Admin, Kraken, Black Ledger and so on).
- One request at a time.
Using a second voucher later replaces your custom title with the new one.
The tag shop
Section titled “The tag shop”Open /tagshop, or /coinshop and click Chat Tags. Buying a tag is instant and permanent.
Classic tags: 2,500 coins each
Section titled “Classic tags: 2,500 coins each”Simple one-word tags: Adventurer, Viking, Fisher, Dragon, Ocean, Storm, Thunder, Treasure, Miner, Squid, Turtle, Thief, Emerald.
Styled tags: 7,500 coins each

Limited tags: 7,500 coins each
Section titled “Limited tags: 7,500 coins each”Each season brings a couple of limited tags that leave the shop when the season’s window closes. Buy one while it is there and you keep it forever.

When nothing is on sale, the limited slot says “No limited tags right now.”
Old tags
Section titled “Old tags”Tags from earlier seasons that are no longer sold are kept, not deleted. If you own one, it stays in the Legacy section of /titles. This includes the old one-word shop tags that are no longer sold (Aqua, Blaze, Creeper, Knight, Zephyr and the rest). The 13 Classic tags above are still for sale.
