Health and Gear
On Bucketry you cannot grind extra hearts out of a skill menu. Every point of max health above the vanilla 20 comes from gear you earn by playing content: trinkets from quests and bosses, and armor sets that upgrade your netherite. Your combat power grows with how far you have gone, not how long you have AFK’d.
Two systems make up the ladder:
- Trinkets: five accessory slots (two rings, amulet, gloves, talisman). Trinkets can add up to +12 max health in total.
- Armor tiers: Barnacle Plate and Tidesteel, upgrades for netherite armor. A full set adds +4 (Barnacle) or +8 (Tidesteel) max health.
That puts the current ceiling at 40 health (20 hearts).
The health ladder
Section titled “The health ladder”This is the usual path. You do not have to follow it in order.
| Step | Where it comes from | Max health |
|---|---|---|
| Start | Vanilla | 20 |
| Given automatically when you finish the Shallows questline | 24 | |
| Boss drops from the Wreckroot or Rimeback | 26 to 29 | |
| Barnacle Plate set (+4) | Wreckroot hoard and Captain’s Orders, needs Shipwright 15 | 30 to 33 |
| Tidesteel set (+8, replaces Barnacle’s +4) | Root Delve High and Spring Tide, Rimeback, Starfall bosses, Vein Wardens, needs Shipwright 22 | 34 to 37 |
| More health trinkets up to the +12 cap | Second ring, | up to 40 |
What gear does not do
Section titled “What gear does not do”- Trinkets never give attack damage or armor points. Those stay on your weapons, armor and custom enchants.
- Seamarks give work perks, not health. The one combat perk is Cutlass Drill (up to +8% damage to mobs, never players).
